Students are assigned to be advisers to King Louis XVI of France The project reads: "As advisers it is your responsibility to read the following events that are transpiring across the Atlantic Ocean and to give a recommendation to the king as to WHETHER HE SHOULD 1) SUPPORT THE PATRIOTS OR 2) DENY ASSISTANCE. You must complete a group advisory (written recommendation) form which explains your justification to the king. Students read through events, categorize them as to social, political or economic, work in individual and group recommendations.

They present their recommendation in class.

Lastly, they debrief by reading historical arguments as to the impact the American Revolution had on France and whether or not France should have sent support to the Americans.

It can be used as a world history or american history lesson.
