European Exploration Simulation - Bartolomeu Dias - Balboa - Magellan

In this simulation and activity students will participate in several mini simulations and lectures. They will develop your understanding of the causes and motivations of European exploration, Portuguese and Spanish explorations and the experiences of sailors and officers on the high seas!

Throughout the activity, students will

- participate in a mini Silk Road simulation

- chart the courses of Portuguese and Spanish explorations

- navigate their way through the Cape of Storms and Strait of Magellan

- learn about the roles and jobs of the crew members and officers of a ship

- take a scurvy quiz!

On day two, students can either take a quiz, in Google Form or printable formats, or write a letter about their experiences.
