Description

In this 14 page lesson, you have everything you need to conduct a DOCUMENT BASED lesson on what caused the American Revolutionary War.

How did the colonists go from peace to war?

Topics include: French and Indian War, Proclamation of 1763, Taxation, Enlightenment and Great Awakening, Colonial Protests (Boston Tea Party and Boston Massacre) and Letters of Protest (Olive Branch Petition).

In this lesson students will:

  • Use a graphic organizer to briefly summarize the events leading up to the Revolutionary War from a description of each event projected on power-point.
  • Read primary source document excerpts, pertaining to each event, and answer questions about the documents. For example, after summarizing the French and Indian War, students will read the Proclamation of 1763 (and answer questions about the document) to deepen their understanding of the results of the French and Indian War.
  • An EXIT Card activity is included and will get your students creative side flowing!

All power-point slides, student handouts and step- by- step teacher directions are included.

**Includes a GOOGLE and Traditional version for your use!
