This PowerPoint presentation provides a scenario for a crime scene investigation (really just DNA analysis).
The presentation (slides #1-16) could be easily modified to fit any city or town. My husband and I are the two individuals (the couple) in the picture and our friend is the neighbor….we are not real victims or suspects
There is a student hand-out that coincides with this PowerPoint that can be copied for student use. The lab begins on Slide #17. Students can follow the PowerPoint and fill in the blanks on their lab handout (Slide #17- 45). Slides #1-16 set the scene for students so that the lab kit makes more sense and students are more engaged in the activity.
This lab coincides with the PCR Forensic Simulation Kit – DNA Only (Item #211212) from Carolina Biological Supply Company.
The concepts presented in this presentation mirror a General High School Biology to AP Biology course.
