Shawneen Morrison combines multidisciplinary expertise, a love of working with adolescents, and years of international experience to build an engaging and meaningful environment for students in her social studies classroom. Shawneen received her BA from Colorado State University with a double major in Biology and Political Science as well as a teaching certification with a Secondary Social Studies endorsement. Currently, she is working to complete her master’s degree in Social and Global Issues at Regis University. Shawneen’s creative use of primary sources to inspire interest in history curriculum earned her the honor of designation as a Master Teacher by the Library of Congress. As an ardent student of global issues, Shawneen has studied or volunteered in eleven nations, drafted model international environmental law for the Center for Energy and Environmental Security, and written public education curriculum for the United Nations Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. In her free time she enjoys travel, volunteerism, playing piano, and especially spending time with her husband and two children in the Colorado Mountains.
