Description
This Veteran’s Day writing assignment gives students practice writing a paragraph with a topic sentence, body sentences, and a conclusion. It walks students through the process of writing an informational paragraph step-by-step and allows students to include an opinion as the closing statement. It also helps students hone their writing skills by having them brainstorm two ways to write each sentence and then select the best ones. There are three questions for students to answer in the body of their paragraph, making it easy for them to generate content. Examples of how to rewrite text to make sentences transition nicely are included, and there are graphic organizers and a revising/editing checklist to help students edit their rough drafts. Space is included for students to write a rough draft and the final draft in their packets.
