Description

This Texas Revolution soundtrack project will bring the unit alive for your Texas History classes and make this era of history relevant to your students! This product includes the rubric and PowerPoint template for students to create their own soundtrack for the Texas Revolution and to relate the music they love today, to major events from the past. In this project, students will summarize the following major events and pick a song that would play during that event if they were in charge of a soundtrack for a movie based on the Texas Revolution: The Battle of Gonzales, Siege of Bexar, the Mexican army's return to San Antonio, William B. Travis' "Victory or Death" letter, the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence, The Battle of the Alamo, The Goliad Massacre, and the Battle of San Jacinto. Students will also have to cast the following important figures from the Texas Revolution: Sam Houston, Santa Anna, Ben Milam, George C. Childress, Willam B. Travis, James Bowie, Davy Crockett, Susanna Dickinson, James Fannin, and Juan Seguin.

This PowerPoint template and rubric is editable so you can customize it if needed. There are also instructions explaining how students can insert videos from YouTube of the songs they select and pictures of each event included in the PowerPoint to help them picture the event. I usually give out awards after I have graded all of the projects for "best song choice for ______________________". My students LOVE this assignment!
