Description
Your emergent readers will love mastering pumpkin terms and language as they discover the life cycle of a pumpkin. Pumpkins arrive almost immediately after back to school – thanks to the popularity of Pumpkin Spice and pumpkin patch field trips, so this unit can be used any time during the fall.
If you are heading to the pumpkin patch for a visit, this emergent reader set is an ideal preparatory activity – students will become familiar with how pumpkins grow before you leave the classroom. This early familiarity helps once you arrive at the pumpkin patch, too. Pumpkins do not all bloom and ripen at once, so students will see all stages of development and recognize them from their reading.
This emergent reader includes some high frequency words, including at, can, green, it, look, see, the and orange.
Vocabulary words that are specific to the life cycle of plants and pumpkins are included as well. You’ll find the following pumpkin and plant vocabulary words inside.
· Seed
· Plant
· Vine
· Sprout
· Flower
· Fruit
· Pumpkin
· Grow
· Ripe
Set includes both a full color version and a black and white version of “I See a Pumpkin”. Books print 2 per page, so you can save on ink and paper, too.
The book has 10 pages total, enough to engage an emergent reader and provide information without being overwhelming.
