Scientific Notation: How Many Times More?
Description
Once students have learned how to convert to scientific notation, how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers in scientific notation, and how to order and compare, students are ready for a lesson on determining how many times greater one number in scientific notation is than another. This scaffolded lesson reviews how to find which is greater and then gives practice in solving problems comparing two numbers in scientific notation. A challenge problem tests students with a real world example.
