Description

Students will read about the liberation of the concentration camp Majdanek during World War 2 from the perspective of a journalist and answer 10 questions of varying degrees of difficulty. Four websites have been included after the reading for students who want additional perspectives, accounts, and information on the liberation of concentration and death camps. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate.

Sample questions include:
--Explain the difference between a concentration and death camp.
--Why would the BBC have refused to air Werth's story on Majdanek's liberation?
--How did those who were brought to Majdanek die? Why do you think that was the chosen method of execution rather than shooting, hanging, guillotine, or another means of killing?
