Description

Students will read a short background on the Red Baron of World War 1 (WWI, WW1) and an excerpt from his diary regarding some military engagements. They will then answer 14 questions and complete 3 creative tasks. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--How was the Red Baron part of German wartime propaganda? Do you think that sort of propaganda was successful, why or why not?
--Why do you think the British buried the Red Baron rather than returning him to his German comrades?
--Explain how the fire of guns can sound "particularly violent" to someone who is used to the sound of gun fire.
--From this sentence...what can you infer about Manfred's attitude about the war and his role in it?
--In what ways did the Englishman show more foolhardiness than courage?
