Description

Students will read 12 quotes from different points of view on the Vietnam War (they span Eisenhower through Nixon and include politicians, American soldiers, and a Vietnamese civilian), answer 20 questions, and complete up to 4 creative tasks. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--How did the domino theory lead to Eisenhower’s foreign policy and American involvement in Vietnam?
--Inferring from prior knowledge, even though JFK said this was “their war” why did direct American involvement continue for another 10 years?
--How does he emphasize the threat posed by the Soviet Union and Vietnam to Americans?
--Identify who Kit could have been thinking of/referring to, when he said the unwilling, unqualified, and ungrateful.
--Do you think the soldier was thinking about defending America from communists, the domino theory, or the Soviet Union as he wrote to his family, why or why not?
--Does McNaughton support continued American involvement in Vietnam, why or why not?
