This Author’s Purpose Sentence Sort gives students hands-on practice deciding whether a sentence was written to persuade, inform/explain, or entertain.

Students read each sentence card, think about the author’s purpose, and glue it into the correct category on the student sort sheet. The sentence cards are all the same purple color so students must read and think about the meaning instead of matching by color.
