Description
Students will learn about Christmas traditions around the world and through the years by matching 10 Christmas traditions to their country of origin, putting 14 historical events that happened on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day in chronological order, identifying 6 images of Christmas traditions, and by answering 5 discussion questions.
The answers are included where appropriate and this would work with a sub!
Sample events include:
--Apollo 8 orbited the moon
--Gorbachev resigned, leading to the dissolution of the USSR
--The Wolf of Wall Street was released.
--Christmas Truce of World War 1
--The temperature scale of Centigrade was invented
--An entire opera was broadcast over the radio from NY’s Metropolitan Opera
Sample traditions include:
--A pickle is hidden in the Christmas tree and whoever finds it in the morning gets a gift
--A favorite Christmas dish is raw whale skin blubber
--Christmas is referred to as Gwiazdka and Christmas dinner is not eaten until the first star is seen in the sky
