Description
Students will learn about a variety of Cold War events and people by designing a poster on over 30 topics including but not limited to: JFK, Marilyn Monroe, Space Race, AIDS, Atomic Bomb, Eisenhower, Berlin Wall, Red China, Joe McCarthy, Stalin, Einstein, Disney, Sputnik, Castro, Cuba, Ho Chi Minh, Korean War, Palestine, Israel, Environmentalism, and Sally Ride.
They will listen to "We Didn't Start the Fire" and after discussing it, will pick a person or event from the song to be topic of their poster project. **UPDATED to include templates for students to complete this as a one pager or a combination of trading cards and a cube.***
The requirements are outlined in the handout, including written research, maps, images, quotes, a timeline, and more. This is a great opportunity for students to teach each other about topics from 1950-1989 that as a class you might not have time to get to. The file includes a points distribution and a brief explanation of the topics mentioned in the song.
