Description
This 60 minute lesson plan includes necessary reading materials and helps students answer the following questions:
• Would I have been an explorer if I lived in the 1400s?
• If I were a native of the Americas, how would I feel about the Europeans coming to my lands?
• Why were the King and Queen of Spain interested in exploring to the West of Europe?
• What was the effect of exploration on the native populations? On Europeans?
This lesson provides teachers with a warm-up activity, guided practice activity, independent practice, activity, extension activity, and project ideas. The bulk of this lesson will require students complete a map activity about the voyages of Columbus.
