Description

At all levels of government (federal, state, and local) there are complex organizations called bureaucracies. Their job is to devise rules and regulations so that the laws, are properly carried out.

In this activity, students will experience the “red tape” (complicated procedures) people sometimes encounter when dealing with a bureaucracy. In groups of two they will imagine that they want to build a new house for themselves but they will experience some "red tape" along the way. Fun, easy, just print and present.

Includes a student reflection sheet to help them analyze the impact of bureaucratic red tape.
