Description
Students will learn about the atrocities committed in the Congo by Belgium under King Leopold II by watching an almost 6 minute video and answering 26 questions (one is a creative task). The answers are included where appropriate and the video is from TedEd.
Sample questions include:
--Why do you think Chief Lontulu divided the twigs into four piles?
--Explain the role of Stanley in what happened in the Congo.
--Summarize how the pneumatic tire is connected to what happened in the Congo.
--Identify a cause and effect of Belgium’s actions on agriculture.
--How did Roger Casement advance Williams’ efforts?
--Why is 1908 an important year for the Congolese people and how did it get to that point? Where did things still fall short?
