Description

I created and annually assigned this activity about the menstrual cycle and the controlling hormones in my Human Anatomy and Physiology class because there are so many phases among the cycles and hormones involved that the content can be overwhelming. This reinforcement activity will help the students compare and contrast the steps, hormones, and processes affiliated with the menstrual cycle. Students will need access to a human anatomy and physiology textbook to complete this packet.

Student’s tasks in this three-page assignment:

  • Complete a table that maps out the differences between the ovarian cycle and the uterine cycle concerning pre- and post-ovulation
  • Label the hormones to their peak activity and phases of the menstrual cycle on a diagram
  • Match the statement to the correct hormones (Luteinizing, follicle-stimulating, estrogen, or progesterone)
  • Identify whether the comments describe the follicular phase, the luteal phase, both, or neither

Product features:

  • Includes a three-page student packet
  • Includes a three-page key with the answers in red font
  • The product will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using the Adobe Acrobat DC Reader app.
  • It complements the other resources I published about the reproductive system

I appreciate your interest. I have taught secondary science for over twenty-five years and have over twenty years of publishing experience through several science education supply corporations. I am confident this lesson will serve you and your students well.
