This lesson builds off the prior knowledge of exploration from the previous lesson, Spanish and Portuguese Exploration, and allows for the students to explore the impact of the Spanish colonization.

 

Bellwork: Before we begin, let’s review the reasons for European exploration. What were the three main reasons explorers made ocean voyages in the late 1400s and early 1500s? What new technology made exploration possible?

 

Directions: With your group, analyze each document that shows evidence of motivation for Spanish Exploration. Then, answer the questions that are on this sheet only.
