Thanksgiving Reading & Writing Activities: Mentor Texts and Video Links

Mentor texts, also referred to as anchor texts, are examples of quality writing from pieces of literature. These real examples can be studied and imitated allowing students practice using new strategies and formats. Studies show that mentor texts have a beneficial influence on students as they offer an opportunity to examine, imitate, and implement successful strategies in their own reading and writing experiences.
