The Decolonization of Africa Timeline Map Image Analysis Stations Activity

Students will learn about, or review, 19 events and people from the decolonization of Africa (African independence movements) with this timeline stations and map activity. They will put together a timeline with 10 events and write academic identifications. They will then match 9 other events to their identification, expand on the identification, and put them in chronological order. The third station (or task) is image analysis and the final station (or task) is a map with 11 labels and 2 tasks (years of independence across the continent and from which European country).

Sample timeline items include Ghana becomes independent from Great Britain, Benedicto Kiwanuka is assassinated, Algeria becomes independent from France, Jerry Rawlings, Jomo Kenyatta, Kwame Nkrumah, Angola's civil war, and more! 

Teacher information and the answers are included where appropriate. This would be great for a sub if used as an individual or pairs packet!
