The Galveston Hurricane of 1900 Primary Source and Image Analysis

Texas History students will read and analyze a short background on the hurricane that devastated Galveston, Texas in 1900 and a first hand account of a resident's experience by answering 12 questions and working with 9 images (prompts provided). This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate!

Sample questions include:
--Summarize why some residents had a somewhat subdued reaction to the coming storm.
--Using context clues, give 4 examples of what some of the debris might have been.
--In what ways did Galveston's surviving residents try to prevent such damage from happening again?
--Explain why the corpses posed a predicament for Galveston's surviving residents.
--How does excerpt C most closely support Milton’s experience?
--Why do you think military rule had to be put in place?
