Description

Students will read a one page refresher background on the events of 9/11 (September 11, 2001), an overview of the Patriot Act (including Congressional opinions for and against it), and a brief overview of the Department of Homeland Security. They will then answer 17 questions and respond to one task. The answers are included where appropriate and this would work for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Identify the main point of Bush’s quote.
--Explain what was different about the War on Terror compared to previous wars America had been part of.
--Why might the Patriot Act have been authorized for 5 years, and then why would President Bush have pushed for its renewal?
--Did Frank support or oppose the Patriot Act? What was his most compelling argument and why?
--What did the oppose excerpts most have in common and why?
--Explain the purpose of the AUMF.
