This lesson involves analysis of artwork to learn about people involved in the Rise of Russia, as well as more recent and older rulers in the same geographic region. People discussed include Ivan the Terrible, Ivan the Great, Queen Olga, and Stalin. The lesson includes 5 different artwork/reading analysis assignments so that students will have different topics to analyze individually before discussing in groups.
My 9th/10th/11th grade World History students have loved this assignment. They find the Princess Olga story especially interesting and have all wanted to learn more about the subject.
