The Vietnam War Map and Activities

Students will review key events and people related to the Vietnam War by completing a cloze passage, reading three pages and answering 10 questions, matching 12 terms to their identifications, completing 2 point of view creative tasks, and by labeling 20 locations on a map. The answers are included where appropriate and this could work for a sub! 

Sample questions include:
--Why didn’t Truman acknowledge Vietnam’s independence from France?
--Why did the CIA back a South Vietnamese coup against Diem, after the United States helped put him in power in the first place?
--Explain the connection between Operation Rolling Thunder and Johnson’s goals for the Vietnam War.
--Inferring from the text, what was “Vietnamization?"
--To what degree were the Paris Peace Accords a success or a failure, and why?
