Writing a Historical Fiction Story (Narrative Writing & Research Project), Printable PDF, Grades 6-8

This middle school resource combines creative writing with a fun research project! Students will choose a historical time period and conduct research to help them write an authentic historical fiction story. The packet includes 11 graphic organizers to help them conduct their research and to prepare them for writing their stories. Space is included for students to record information about their sources for citing at the end of their stories. An excerpt from a historical fiction story is also included to give students an example of how to incorporate historical elements into their writing. This research project is a great way to give students a narrative writing prompt while having them work on their research skills!
