Description
This creative writing project is perfect for engaging middle school students during the winter holidays or on a snowy day. Students will create a snowpal protagonist for a short story they will write. They will use graphic organizers to develop their protagonist and antagonist. They will also use graphic organizers to develop a setting, brainstorm dialogue to include, and outline a plot for their stories. In addition, they will make a storyboard in their packets that illustrate the six main events. The story writing graphic organizers in this resource help students structure their narratives. An editing and revising checklist for self-assessment encourages students to check their work closely before starting their final drafts. Reflection questions can be used for closure. There is also an optional extended practice page for students to brainstorm a sequel. Students can just fill out the graphic organizer or write another story, whichever you prefer them to do. Be sure to include this fun winter writing activity with your other narrative writing prompts!
