Description

Students read 11 quotes about the rise of European dictators/totalitarian leaders from 1919-1939 from various point of view, analyze 9 images, and respond to up to 25 questions and tasks. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate.

Sample questions include:
--Explain why people were resorting to taking the broken coal, even at the risk of losing fingers or legs.
--List and explain 3 types of actions Mussolini took, domestically and internationally, to achieve the “greatness” he spoke about.
--Could Hitler have cultivated such a devoted following without the answer to number 11, why or why not?
--What do you think these individuals/businesses did, or didn’t do, to be targeted in this way?
--Citing evidence from the text, does Huizinga approve of what is happening around him, why or why not?
