Hudson Taylor | Christian Missionary to China

Hudson Taylor was a Christian missionary to China. Despite the odds, he served the people of China for over 5 decades. As a young teenager Hudson's life changed completely when he read and accepted the Gospel message. As he read the Bible, one word kept coming to mind: China. Hudson knew that God was calling him to spread the Gospel to the people of China, and he would spend the rest of his life doing so. Kids will read about Hudson Taylor's life in this exciting lesson.

Students love hearing stories of real-life missionaries. In a world full of evil, it's exciting to hear these stories of real superheroes who work diligently to change the lives of others.

There are several ways you could use this download to teach your kids about Hudson Taylor.

How to Use This Resource

First, you can do it as a group activity. Have the children sit in a teaching circle and hold up the large picture of Hudson Taylor as you read his life’s story. Discuss the questions as a group. (The PowerPoint lesson has his story told in the notes part of the slides.)

The other way to use this product is as an individual assignment. Kids will read the passage on their own and answer the questions. Either way you do it, the kids will be richly blessed to learn about this amazing man’s service to God!

Missionary Minute

I always start my Sunday School lessons with a "Missionary Minute". We listen to a story about a missionary like Hudson Taylor or Amy Carmichael and locate the places they served on a map. Then we pray for the needs of missionaries around the world. It is so impacting to these Sunday School learners!

This is also a great lesson for biographies in Christian schools or for sub plans.
