Description

Road to Emmaus | Sunday School or Bible Lesson

Lesson from Luke 24:13-35
Jesus was resurrected on the first Easter, and the disciples found His empty tomb. Confused and heartbroken, they didn't understand yet that Jesus was the promised Messiah.

After Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene at the tomb, He appeared, disguised, to two disciples walking to Emmaus. As they walked, the two disciples discussed everything they had seen in Jerusalem over the last week. They had hoped that Jesus would be the redeemer of Israel. On their walk, a man joined them and asked them about these things. He then pointed out to these men that Jesus had to suffer to enter God's glory and he pointed out scriptures from Moses and all the prophets to support what he said. Once the men broke bread with this man, they realized that he was Jesus. Their hearts burned within them and they raced back to tell the disciples in Jerusalem.

This is a great Sunday school lesson following Easter or anytime you are studying the New Testament. This could also be used as a sub plan for Christian elementary schools.
