In November 1979, after a revolution and the founding of a repressive Islamic republic, Iranian radicals seized 66 American workers at the U.S. embassy in Iran’s capital of Tehran. Americans watched in fear for the hostages’ lives as the crisis dragged on for 444 days.

- Ayatollah Khomeini returns to Iran after 15 years in exile.
- Khomeini takes power.

Students will complete the 9 reading comprehension and 1 grid question on the form. Then students will identify cause and effect, draw inferences, and hypothesize on the doc.
