Description

November is Native American Heritage Month and this is a great way to introduce your students to a number of different Native Americans that have impacted the United States and the world. It can be a time of remembrance of or introduction to important Native American Leaders.

When your students enter the room they are each given a piece of the poster, which they will color on and eventually piece together with the rest of their classmates. Your students will begin questioning who is on their piece of the poster and naturally want to learn more about him or her which can provide a jumping off point for discussions and other projects surrounding this month.

Students will conduct research and find the following information:

*quote

*challenges/obstacles faced

*achievements/honors

*what lessons can be learned from the hero.

Anytime we do these poster in class, my students get excited. They love to color and be able to express themselves artistically. Each hour when my students walk into the room they enjoy reading what the other classes have written. It is a very engaging piece of artwork that you can keep up all year long and reference frequently!

*Final Poster is 5x5, however there are extra pieces of the poster that can be printed off and placed around the border for classes that are larger than 25.

If you like this one, check out my other Collaborative Posters too, or if you have a suggestion for a poster, please feel free to contact me.

These posters provide decorations for my classroom throughout the year and they are very eye catching for those who enter the room!
