Thank you for your interest in Oreo Cookie Stacking from
Our products are designed to coordinate with fun holidays throughout the year. This packet is designed to accompany Oreo Cookie Day - March 6th . This is also a good Engineering activity and if you choose to use the TEAMS challenge. You can also justify learning with Math: Mean, Median, Mode & Range.
Each learner needs approximately 30 cookies, I have students bring in their own package. It is important they bring the same kind of cookie to control the variables. This is covered in the provided sample letter. I also ask for a gallon sized bag to use for returning the cookies at the end of the activity. It is a good idea to have extras on hand so everyone is able to participate. (And you have fresh cookies should you decide to let the students snack on them!)
I use a paper "place mat" so students are not building on the desk.
This also helps control the crumbs.
You will need to decide if students are permitted to eat the cookies after using them, or if you will provide a few cookies each from unused packages. (You know how the story goes...if you give students cookies, they will also want drinks....)
This activity can be done over several days, as 2 different stacking activities, as one long afternoon event or however you see fit.(Partner stacks, then Team challenge: Mean, Median and Mode.)You can decide after looking everything over, how best to implement the activities in your class. Be sure to check out the preview to see all the included elements.
I hope you and your students enjoy Oreo Day as much as I did!
May your Educational Journey Be Blessed!
