Description

Students will read and analyze Teddy Roosevelt's New Nationalism and Woodrow Wilson's New Freedom speeches by answering 20 questions and completing 3 creative tasks. Some questions and tasks have students compare and contrast the speeches. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--What does TR stand for in the Square Deal?
--Inferring from the text, what could these special interests be that TR refers to?
--Based on that, how do you think TR feels about monopolies?
--Explain the duty that Americans have to cleanse their society.
--What does Wilson believe it takes for there to be equality of opportunity?
--Summarize the last paragraph in your own words. What is Wilson’s message?
--Which of the two do you think would have more rallied the American public at the time and why?
