Rwandan Genocide Webquest

Students will visit a selection of 16 websites to learn about the Rwandan Genocide. As they read, they will fill out a graphic organizer and answer 10 questions (mostly opinion based). The answers are included where appropriate. There are extra websites provided in case some articles become unavailable during the year. 

Sample questions include:
--How was this genocide able to be carried out so ruthlessly and so quickly compared to the Holocaust?
--Describe the impact the genocide has on people living in Rwanda today. Consider both the political and social spheres in your answer. Would you say Rwanda has “healed,” why or why not?
--Explain the challenges faced by the women who were convicted for partaking in the genocide upon being released from prison. What unique challenges have their family members faced?
--Are the Rwandan Gacaca Courts enough to bring justice to genocide survivors, why or why not?
