Texas During the Great Depression Reading and Activities

Texas History students will read 8 brief passages about the Great Depression, life in Texas during the depression, and a brief preview of the New Deal. Then will then answer 10 questions and match 20 images of the Great Depression to historically appropriate captions. A teacher information page and the answers are included where appropriate. This would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include: 
--Summarize why Hoover did not want the federal government to step in and provide relief during the Depression. 
--Explain the hardship faced by cotton farmers, what they tried doing about it, and whether or not they were 
--Do you consider the New Deal a success, why or why not? Would you have been pro or anti New Deal during the 1930s and why?
--Match the Texan with what he or she is known for.
