The Scarlet Ibis Unit

Students are guided through reading and analysis of literary elements for The Scarlet Ibis. Formative assessments for each section of reading reinforce literary elments through evidence citation. Students are then asked to watch Simon Birch and analyze for all of the same literary elemets and are then asked to write a comparative essay using evidence from both. All materials to guide students through activities and learning via powerpoint as well as handouts and readings are included in both editable and PDF formats. This unit should take a few weeks of class time, depending on pacing. Units come in a zip file that will need to be extracted after download. All computers come with extraction programs.
