Description

“World War II- War in the Pacific“ is an overview of the war against Japan in the Pacific just after the attack at Pearl Harbor. The presentation follows the “island hopping” strategy used by the US in the Pacific. Teacher notes and extra information are included on “note view “for many slides. This presentation was used for years in class, and I continually edited and improved it over time. It holds the class interest and brings up a lot of discussion. This works and keeps the kids attention.
Presentation starts with Pearl Harbor <> Admiral Halsey and General MacArthur <> The Philippines fall-Bataan and the “death march” <> The Doolittle Raid <> Battle of Coral Sea <> Battle of Midway<> “Island Hopping” <> Battle of Guadalcanal <> Navajo Code talkers <> Battle of Tarawa <> Battle of Saipan <> Battle for Guam <> Battle of Leyte Gulf <> Battle of Iwo Jima <> The photo that “defines” the war! <> Battle of Okinawa <> Kamikaze threat <>Hiroshima and Nagasaki (brief over view) <> Japan Surrenders.
