Description

Students will enjoy exploring numbers in solving box puzzles. They will experiment to see if this method works for different numbers, when one number is a zero, using fractions, integers, subtraction, multiplication, or if their box is a different size. (If your students haven't yet learned integer operations, just delete sides 6 and 7.) They will then use a drag and drop activity with animals to help understand conceptually why box puzzles work. This leads to an explanation of commutative and associate properties and ends with the student creating their own box puzzle.
