Get To Know You Collaborative Math Activity Sierpinski Carpet Math & Art Project

Sierpinski Carpet Fractal - Figure Me Out, Getting to Know You Activity - icebreaker for math classes. It's a great Back to School, First Days of School, Summer Camp, or Summer School Collaborative Math Activity.

Students answer questions about themselves and create their colorful 2nd iteration of the Sierpinski Carpet based on their answers and the coloring directions.

The next step:

You can build the 3rd iteration (8 pieces of the 2nd iteration) or 4th iteration (64 pieces of the 2nd iteration, or if you have less than 64 students, you can print more templates for each student to have 64 in total).

You can connect the parts of the Sierpinski Carpet on the floor and then take a picture of the whole from above. You can also connect everyone’s squares together to make a mural, door decoration, or bulletin board display.
