Description
You have probably heard of Elf of the Shelf, and you may have even seen the memes of other alternative (ie. Obama on a Llama). Since the end of the year and the holiday time can provide opportunities for fun, I came up with the activity as a way to just have a little amusement in the classroom!
The activity can be done in so many ways, but the basic idea is that students will first guess the Elf alternative rhyming name (ie. the antelope on the stethoscope). The activity comes with 10 of these memes as well as one bonus meme that is pretty difficult. After discovering the character, there is a scenario students will solve. All the questions are set up as hospital-related brain teasers and are just meant to be engaging, challenging and using high level thinking skills.
The activity comes with a few options:
“Healthcare Holiday Helpers” PPT: This PowerPoint could be done as one big activity. You could partner students up and go one at a time. Or, you could do it as a countdown to Christmas break. 10 days out, use them as your Warm-up.
“Healthcare Holiday Helpers PICTURES ONLY” PPT: You can do this one exactly as the full one, but this would just take up less time.
“Healthcare Holiday Helpers Worksheet”: This comes in both a printable and fillable PDF. You could give this out as a fun activity and should take up most of a full class time. There is also an Answer Key included.
I also recorded a short instructional video to go through the activity and give suggestions.
