Description

This user-friendly full-page lab manual will guide students through the handling and observation of two different invertebrates, Hydra and Daphnia. Students in high school biology or middle school life science will make behavioral observations from the interaction of the two species. Students will also classify the species, identify and label key anatomical components, and compare the organisms’ features. Students will also determine the characteristics that make hydra more advanced than amoebas.

Materials needed, but not included in this listing, are a compound light microscope with a 5x objective lens, glass slides, a culture of either Brown Hydra or Mixed Hydra (Green and Brown), a culture of Daphnia magma, scissors, a Biology textbook or an online source where students can look up invertebrate anatomy, and plastic transfer pipettes.

This lab manual comes with a complete answer key. This PDF file will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Program.
