Description

This game has been devised for our children to play to review mental and written math skills in the four operations of:

  • addition
  • subtraction
  • multiplication
  • division.

The game is designed for 4th, 5th and 6th graders and can be played by 2 - 8 children.

Full instructions for setting up, preparing the resources and playing the game are included in a PDF within the download, but a copy can be seen in the preview below.

The aim is for the children to collect 16 different maths cards by moving their game pieces around the designed board, picking up cards and identifying answers to a range of questions from the four operations. Players must avoid hazards in the game, like getting lost in Mathematical Maze and missing a go, being sent to The Mathematical Maze, or landing on squares which instruct the players to give a card they have won to another player. Other squares allow players to collect the cards they need from their opponents, as well as selecting cards they need from the centre squares.

Four areas of math are explored within the game, and before players can collect cards they must answers correctly. The 16 cards to collect are:

  • U + U
  • TU + TU
  • HTU + HTU
  • ThHTU + ThHTU
  • U - U
  • TU - TU
  • HTU - HTU
  • ThHTU - ThHTU
  • U x U
  • TU x U
  • HTU x U
  • ThHTU xU
  • TU divided by U
  • HTU divided by U
  • ThHTU divided by U
  • ThHTU divided by TU

The maths questions have been divided into four colours, and those are the colours represented on the game board:

  • Addition (red)
  • Subtraction (blue)
  • Multiplication (green)
  • Division (yellow)

This game can be a valuable asset to your classroom resources, Math Activity Center or those moments when you just need something to do when the weather is bad!

Please take the time to look at the preview to see more of the game, the features and the value that it can offer your classroom.

All resources are prepared and the game can be played independently by up to 8 children.
