Description
Ever needed a review activity on solving equations with variables on both sides that was fun and engaging for your students? Team Target Review is a cooperative and competitive activity designed to get students thinking, talking, and working together.
Teams of 2-4 students work together to complete increasing levels of difficulty on solving multi-step equations with variables on both sides. Each student solves one of the questions in a round, then they use all of the solutions to answer the "meta" question at the bottom. If correct, the next more challenging round is unlocked. If incorrect, the group must work together to figure out what went wrong, and how to fix it.
Part 1 of this activity focuses on only having the variables on one side of the equation.
This activity works great as an engaging review session before an assessment, a quick(ish) activity on one of those pesky minimum days where you have limited time, or as part of a block period when you want to break up the direct instruction.
This activity includes:
- Suggested activity instructions (based on how I run this in my classroom).
- 6 rounds of targeted review on solving equations with variables on both sides.
- Complete worked out solutions for each round.
- Teacher Quick Reference Answer Sheet
