Description
Students will read a passage on Charlemagne's time in power from Medieval Europe (the Middle Ages), answer 11 questions, analyze 9 images, and complete 4 creative tasks (in general they are about two takes on his legacy, a resume, and an advertisement). The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--What did Charlemagne do in Western Europe that had not been accomplished since Rome fell?
--Rewrite the phrase “keep his enemies at bay” in your own words.
--Explain how Charlemagne came to power.
--Inferring from the text and any prior knowledge, what might have been one of Charlemagne’s reasons for wanting a more unified empire?
--What do you think Charlemagne would have done if he had more than one surviving son?
--What was the most significant reason at the time Charlemagne lived that he was well known and why? Would he agree with you, why or why not?
