Description
Note this lesson is intended for group cooperation, but could be easily adapted for an individual assignment by having each student create a product to sell/create a store and then give each student checks and a register to record on their own.
OBJECTIVE:
The learner will identify an environmental issue around the world.
- The learner will be able to identify things they can do to save our earth.
- The learner will be able to illustrate an environmental issue that is harmful to our environment and present a solution to the problem.
- The learner will revisit and apply the 5 geographical themes.
MATERIALS FOR RESEARCH ACTIVITY
Access to Internet for research (or) various articles printed out, one for each team. Suggestions of articles are provided, but as time evolves, the issues may change and the articles may become irrelevant or outdated. Please make sure to keep your articles updated. The way to avoid outdated articles is to allow students to choose their own article and to complete their own research. The instructor may also choose his/her articles for this lesson. Current articles are provided: (Copy and paste links) If link doesn’t work, as they often change addresses, Google the article name and you more than likely will be able to find the article, as the article usually remains on the web, but the address may have changed.
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES INCLUDE:
Pollution, Global Warming, Overpopulation, Natural Resource Depletion, Waste Disposal, Climate Change, Loss of Biodiversity, Deforestation, Ocean Acidification, Ozone Rain, Acid Rain, Water Pollution, Urban Sprawl, Pubic Health Issues, Genetic Engineering.
ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
Introduction: Global Environment Bingo Game, Vocabulary Class Discussion/Game
Activity: What Environmental Issue Can You Solve (Group or Individual Activity)
