OVERVIEW
The Duolingo Spanish Podcast series is a great tool to help students increase vocabulary and develop their listening comprehension skills. With fascinating true stories from Latin America, students are inspired by the courage and perseverance of the main characters, who have overcome incredible odds in the face of adversity. In the words of the narrator, "these are not language lessons; they’re life lessons through language."

EPISODE SUMMARY
This activity guide was created to accompany Podcast Episode #4: Una chilena en China (A Chilean in China). In the story, we meet María Elizabeth Soto, a Chilean woman who travels to China in 2014 on a work trip. She experienced moments of major culture shock, such as the enormous golden mall with traditional squat toilets, unusual ingredients in the food, and colorful face masks that were commonly worn in China. Amid these stranger things, her visit to the Andes Resort in Beijing would give her a taste of home in an unfamiliar place, where she connects with a friendly Chilean chef and tour guide, Daniel. With exotic surprises at every turn, María's most valuable souvenir would turn out to be her connection with Daniel, and her biggest surprise from China would meet her right back at home. **Internet access required.**
