Description

Students will read excerpts from the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 under President John Adams, answer 18 questions, and complete a creative task. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate!

Sample questions include:
--Identify the conditions under which individuals would be subject to the Act’s stipulations. Which people would it apply to?
--What is the role of the Judicial branch per the third paragraph?
--Could someone in 1798 have claimed that the Alien Act was unconstitutional, why or why not?
--Rewrite Section 1 in your own words to demonstrate understanding.
--Explain the main difference in Sections 1 and 2.
--Explain the overall purpose of the Sedition Act. Was it justifiable at the time, why or why not?
