Description

Students will analyze 10 quotes and 3 images related to the Stamp Act as a cause of the Revolutionary War by answering 35 questions. There are 5 questions involving other events from 1754-1765 (French and Indian War, salutary neglect, mercantilism, Sugar Act, Currency Act). The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Identify at least 3 events from 1754-1765 leading to the issuance of the Stamp Act. Explain how those three items increased the tension in relations between the colonies and crown.
--Does the Boston-Gazette support the Stamp Act, why or why not?
--Why do you think the phrase, “do not be cowards” was used?
--What is an effigy and what type of person do you think they made it of?
--Discuss what the “pulse” implies for future colonial and Crown relations.
--Does Lord South see value in actual representation for the colonists, why or why not?
--Identify the greatest similarity between the Lord South and Virginia excerpts, and explain the limit to the similarity.
--Would Johnson have sympathized the the patriot’s claims of no taxation without representation, why or why not?
